A Season of Becoming

There isn’t a whole lot happening around the homestead right now.

We’re raising our baby chicks, making plans, changing those plans, dreaming up new ideas, and figuring out what comes next. This part of building a dream isn’t particularly exciting to look at. It’s slow. It requires patience. And sometimes it feels like we should be doing more.

But I’m learning that this part matters too.

There’s something beautiful about having a season to wonder, create, plan, and evaluate. To let yourself imagine what something could become before you ever put a shovel in the ground.

Because dreaming doesn’t make the rest of life stop.

There are still jobs to work, bills to pay, laundry to fold, children to raise, dinners to make, and a hundred ordinary responsibilities waiting every day. Those things don’t disappear just because you’ve decided you want to build something more.

So the dream gets tucked into the spaces between them.

A few chicks raised here.

A packet of seeds bought there.

A fence planned.

A little money saved.

An idea scribbled down before bed.

And slowly, those little things begin adding up.

I think that’s the part I’m learning right now: patience doesn’t mean standing still.

We may not be able to do everything today. We may have to build slower than our excitement would like. We may change our minds a dozen times along the way.

But we can keep moving.

So this season is for dreaming, planning, learning, and doing what we can with what we have.

No rushing the process.

We’ll build this little life one piece at a time, and give each piece the time it deserves. 🤎🌱🐣

Love always,

Fowler Homestead
