Lately I’ve shared a lot about the chicks and the hatchery, but quietly behind the scenes, another little dream has been taking shape. 🌸
Fowler Homestead Flowers.
Right now, there isn’t a beautiful field full of flowers to show you. There aren’t rows and rows of blooms or buckets overflowing with bouquets.
Right now, it looks like notebooks, seed catalogs, measurements, plans, and entirely too many tabs open on my phone. 😂
It looks like walking around our property and imagining what could be there.
I’m learning how to take the space we have and make the most of it. I’m choosing varieties for different seasons, planning color palettes, learning succession planting, and creating bouquet recipes before I’ve even grown the first stem.
I’m learning that growing a beautiful flower is only part of it. There’s knowing when to cut it, how to condition it, how to give it the longest vase life, and how to combine different colors and textures into something that feels special.
And somewhere in the middle of all that learning, I’ve realized how much I genuinely love this.
There is something so exciting about standing at the very beginning of something.
Nothing is guaranteed. I know I’ll make mistakes. I’ll probably plant things too early, too late, too close together, or discover that something I was convinced I needed absolutely hates our Georgia weather. 😂
But I’ll learn.
I keep reminding myself that I don’t have to build the entire dream in the first year.
I just have to start.
Start with the space we have.
Start with what I can manage.
Learn our soil. Learn our seasons. Learn which flowers thrive here. Learn which bouquets people love.
And then build from there.
Of course, I say all of this while somehow ending up with 100 different seed varieties in my cart after specifically telling myself to “keep it simple.” 😂🌻
But I think that’s what dreaming looks like sometimes.,
You start looking at an empty piece of ground and somehow you can already see what it could become.
I can see the rows of flowers.
I can see buckets full of fresh-cut blooms.
I can see bouquets wrapped and waiting at our little roadside stand.
I can see my girls running through the rows and all of us learning and building this together.
And maybe years from now, when this little flower farm has grown into something bigger, I’ll look back at this season and remember when it was nothing more than an idea, a patch of land, a whole lot of research, and a seed cart that desperately needed adult supervision. 😂🌸
Every dream has a beginning.
This is ours. 💐
Yours truly,
Fowler Homestead
