If you had asked me years ago what it meant to follow God, I probably would have given you a list.
Go to church. Try not to cuss. Be a good person. Don't do certain things.
Somewhere along the way, I unknowingly shaped God's Word into something that fit the life I wanted to live instead of allowing it to shape me.
Lately, that has been changing.
Charlie and I are still learning. We don't have all the answers. We still make mistakes. We still have days where we fail each other, ourselves, and God.
But something is different.
I can feel it.
I notice the conviction in my heart now when my attitude is wrong. When my words aren't kind. When my priorities start drifting. Not because I'm afraid of punishment, but because I know God is gently pulling me back toward Him.
I've realized that Scripture isn't a book of rules meant to steal our joy.
It's a guide.
A guide for marriage. A guide for parenting. A guide for work. A guide for money. A guide for forgiveness. A guide for loving people who are difficult to love. A guide for becoming the person God created us to be.
The closer I get to understanding God's Word, the more I realize how much I misunderstood it.
Not because God changed...
Because I did.
I'm beginning to see that obedience isn't about earning God's love. It's the response to already being loved.
We're still at the beginning of this journey.
There are verses we don't fully understand. Questions we still wrestle with. Habits we're still trying to break.
But every day, we're learning just a little more.
Every day, we're growing.
And maybe that's what walking with Christ really looks like—not perfection, but continually allowing Him to change your heart.
If there's one thing I've learned recently, it's this:
God isn't asking us to become perfect overnight.
He's simply asking us to keep walking toward Him.
One step. One lesson. One surrendered heart at a time.
That's all folks, happy Sunday! ❤️
Love,
